There are six car hire companies at the Montpellier Airport. They are Ada, Avis, National/Citer, Europcar, Sixt and Hertz. They are all in the arrivals hall. Once you check in and get your car key you will have to exit the arrivals hall and get your car in the car park, outside just across from the arrivals hall, in the P1 car park.
The listed opening hours for car hire at the Montpellier Airport is Monday-Friday 7:30 am to 11:15 pm and Saturday-Sunday 8:00 am to 11:15 pm.
Should you need petrol before returning your car hire the nearest station is right next door to the Hôtel Aéroport (elevated prices though...). Cheaper petrol can be found at the Carrefour supermarket, a five minute drive from the airport on the Commercial Sud, Lattes.
If you would like to hire a car at the Montpellier Airport you can either book directly through one of the companies above or through a consolidator like Auto Europe. Auto Europe tends (in my opinion) to be able to give you a better price, as they look at all car hire companies when you request a booking.
